This unique artwork is created using layers of hand dyed merino wool fibre and details of silk fibre.  It is then captured and reproduced using the highest quality printing techniques and materials.

The process used to create the artwork is not unlike that used to paint a conventional picture.  Layers of colour are applied and then details carefully added.  The difference being that my "paints" are wool and silk fibres and my hands are the brushes.  At first glance, this print looks like a watercolour.  Then, as you are drawn to look closer, the depth and shimmering colour become clearer and you find yourself soaking in every detail.

Perfect for the geology enthusiast, or for someone who just loves the beautiful surprises that creation has hidden away, waiting to be discovered.  Isn't there something magical about cracking open an unassuming-looking rock to find a glittering core of crystals?  This representation doesn't exactly glitter, but doesn't the sheen of the silk fibres remind you of the shining rings of colour on polished slices of geode.

Caroline Burton, Fibre Artist inspects and hand signs each print before shipping it to you. Signed prints take up to 2-3 weeks to arrive at your delivery address.

The capture of this type of fibre art is unique to Caroline Burton Fibre Artist.
